What does it mean to have a Maryland Excels Level 3 Quality Ranking?
Small Talk Family Childcare is constantly striving to improve our methods and strategies to offer optimal childcare with the most up-to-date government regulations. A Maryland Excels Level 3 quality rating is only obtained by childcare facilities that customize activities and lesson plans unique to each child based on their interests and level of development. This ranking also represents the 90 hours of continuing education our teachers participate in on top of their existing early childhood education degrees. In addition to these requirements, Small Talk also hosts events and annual parent-teacher conferences in order to encourage family engagement and ensure every one of our students are getting the support they need to shine like the little stars they are.

About Us
❤️ Meet Our Provider ❤️
Meet our Lead Childcare Provider and founder of Small Talk Family Childcare: Yulena Corrica (AKA Ms. Lena / Nana). Ms. Lena lives for teaching little ones. Since she was a child, if you asked her what she wanted to do with her life, her answer was always, “Become a teacher.” Nothing brings more joy to her soul than laying out the perfect lesson plan and watching the glimmer in her students’ eyes as she uses each one to unlock their inner genius. Ms. Lena’s teaching career began with the K-3 class of 2008 at Shores Christian Academy (She still gets pictures and updates from the families of nearly every student she taught back then!) and has not diverted ever since. After Shores‘ unfortunate shut down, she got her CDA certification, and moved on to Childhood Development Services in Ocala, Florida. Then after the birth of her first grandchild, Corey, she moved to Maryland to be closer to him, and decided it was time to go into the business for herself. Ms. Lena got to work learning all the ins and outs of this business, spending every minute she had researching how to open and operate the best learning center in the state. And this is the result of all those years of sweat, tears, and dedicated preparation: Small Talk Family Childcare, Where the Path To Success Begins.
